Kandy T. Woods is Interim Director/Associate Instructor in the Division of Cardiopulmonary Science in the School of Allied Health Sciences. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in cardiopulmonary science, and Master of Public Health Degree (MPH) with a concentration in health policy and management at Florida A&M University. She is responsible for the administrative responsibilties, program planning, and curriculum development and review of the program. She has been a respiratory therapist for 26 years. Her primary clinical experiences are in the areas of neonatal/pediatric care, adult critical care, and extended and long term care. She has been an American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation provider and educator for six years. Her research efforts focus on improving the health of populations by utilizing social and behavior research methods through the use of community-based participatory research.

David Saint is medical director and associate professor in the Division of Cardiopulmonary
Science in the School of Allied Health Sciences. Saint supervises and assures the
medical components of the curriculum both didactic and clinical practice. He received
his residency training received a Master of Science degree from Samford University
and Medical Degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham. He completed his residency
in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern, and thoracic resident
surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Harbor, Mich. He is board certified in
both general and thoracic surgery and is in private practice at Heart Surgery Center/Tallahassee
Memorial Health Care.

James Wright is Interim Director of Clinical Education in the Division of Cardiopulmonary Science (CPS) in the School of Allied Health Sciences. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in cardiopulmonary science, and Master of Health Administration at Florida A&M University. He is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for learners enrolled in the CPS Program. He has been a respiratory therapist for 11 years. His primary clinical experiences are in the areas adult critical care and long-term care. His research efforts focus on marijuana perceptions among undergrad learners and methods for improving National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Examination scores among Florida A&M graduates.
Mary Simmons, Ph.D, MPH, RRT

Mary Simmons is faculty in the Division of Cardiopulmonary Science in the School of
Allied Health. She is responsible for the instruction and evaluation of the CPS program.
She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in cardiopulmonary science, and Master of
Public Health Degree (MPH) at Florida A&M University. Her practice background includes
respiratory therapy in adult critical care, pediatrics, trauma and chronically diseased
patients such as HIV/AIDS, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), sarcoidosis
and Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Professor Simmons also credentialed
in public health and has experience in the fields dealing with child hood obesity,
needlesticks in the work place, and community health as a whole. Her research interests
include adolescent obesity, occupational health, diversity in allied health sciences
and behavioral health.
